Megan Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working therapeutically with children and families. She facilitates both individual and group sessions with children who face emotional, behavioral or social challenges. Megan believes in the power of play as a therapeutic tool to empower children to fulfill their potential and better express themselves. She sees parents and teachers as essential collaborators in the process. She strives to maintain regular communication and work together with parents and other services providers (such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and school staff) to gain a holistic view of the child and maximize the benefits of the therapeutic process.

Megan graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois-Chicago (2004) and a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Spanish from Illinois Wesleyan (2001).

Megan has spent her career working as a preschool teacher, a school social worker, and an independent therapist. Though she treats a wide variety of challenges, her areas of specialty include Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Trauma, and attachment concerns (abuse/neglect). Her therapeutic approach varies depending on client needs, but often involves Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy implemented through play and art activities, Sandtray Therapy activities, Brainspotting, and the DIR/Floortime approach.
